A Laid-Back Downtown SLO Senior Session
It’s no surprise that senior guys are usually a little less than thrilled about doing photos (let’s be honest, it’s often more for mom), but even the most hesitant seniors end up having a great time. Chase’s senior session for Mission Prep was no exception. From the moment we started planning and chatting about locations, I knew his session would be easygoing and relaxed. He gravitated toward something with strong architecture and an urban, downtown feel rather than the beach, and I was all in.
We ended up at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa in the heart of downtown, and it couldn’t have been a better fit. With beautiful textures, archways, and classic details, the location gave us that clean, architectural backdrop Chase was looking for. The weather was sunny, comfortable, and it wasn't too busy, so we had the space to move around and keep things feeling natural and unrushed.
Chase brought such a laid-back energy to the entire session. No pressure, no overthinking. Just showing up, going with the flow, and having a good time. His mom was there too, which always makes sessions like this even more meaningful. I truly love it when moms (or family) come along. It’s such a special moment for them, and it’s completely okay if it feels a little emotional. These milestones go by fast.
Plus, they make the best hype crew. That extra encouragement, the laughs from the sidelines. It all adds to the experience. One of my favorite moments during any senior session is when I ask my seniors to look over at mom… it always brings out the most genuine smile. And that was absolutely the case with Chase. Between the timeless mission setting and the quiet charm of downtown San Luis Obispo, everything came together in a way that felt authentic to him; simple, relaxed, and genuinely fun.
Take in every moment of your senior year! It’s going to go by so quickly.
