From First Quarter to Graduation
There’s something incredibly special about getting to photograph the same people through different seasons of life, and Lexi’s Cal Poly Graduation Session has been one of those full-circle moments I’ll never take for granted.
I first met Lexi when I did photos for her and her family the year she was starting at Cal Poly. Fast forward to now, and I had the absolute honor of photographing her college graduation. Such a huge, meaningful milestone.
From the very beginning of her session, Lexi’s joy was undeniable. She was all smiles, completely herself, and brought such a fun, light energy to every moment. It’s sessions like this that don’t feel like work at all. You’re just along for the ride, capturing genuine happiness as it unfolds.
We started on campus (of course!) at one of the iconic Cal Poly signs, which is a must-have for any graduate. From there, we explored a few different spots that were meaningful to Lexi, including areas where she spent so much of her time for her major. I always encourage grads to include locations like this because it tells a deeper story. College isn’t just about the degree; it’s about the places, the routines, and the memories made along the way.
One of my favorite parts of this session was that Lexi included some of the people who made her college experience so special. We captured sweet moments with her sorority little sister and her boyfriend, which added so much heart and personality to her gallery. These are the relationships that shaped her time here, and they made the session feel even more complete.
We wrapped everything up at Avila Beach, one of her favorite spots to unwind and soak in the beauty of the Central Coast. The weather showed up for us in the best way, and it was the perfect ending to such a meaningful session.
Getting to document Lexi’s story, from the beginning of her college journey to this moment of celebration, has been so incredibly special. Watching her grow, seeing her joy, and capturing these milestones for her and her family is exactly why I love what I do.
Lexi, I am so proud of you and so grateful to have been a small part of your journey. Best wishes on your next adventure!
