Garden to Avila Beach Magic
I’ve been saving this SLO High senior session with Sofia for a while, and I’m so excited to finally share it. This session was incredibly special and full of joy from start to finish.
Sofia was one of the foreign exchange students at SLO High, and she instantly became someone you couldn’t help but love. She began the school year as a junior, moved up to senior status before the year ended, and then returned home to finish her senior year. Before leaving San Luis Obispo in June, we were able to fit in her senior portrait session, and I’m so thankful we did.
I first met Sofia during fall cheer season, but really got to know her during winter cheer. She and my daughter became close friends, which made photographing her senior session even more meaningful. Sofia is kind, brave, and truly a ray of sunshine. Moving to another country alone for a full school year takes courage, and she embraced every moment with so much heart.
Planning a Senior Session That Fits Your Vibe
One of my favorite parts of being a San Luis Obispo senior photographer is helping seniors plan their sessions. My seniors never have to plan alone. Once Sofia shared the vibe she wanted, I helped select locations that felt natural and meaningful to her.
She knew she wanted cap and gown photos with flowers and then wanted to end with a fun beach location. We started her session in San Luis Obispo with a casual outfit to help her ease into the experience. And those pink shoes? Completely Sofia! Including personal details like this is what makes senior portraits feel authentic and timeless.
We then moved into her cap and gown senior photos. The greenery and flowers added a soft, celebratory feel that perfectly matched her energy.
Avila Beach Senior Photos to Finish the Session
To wrap up her session, we headed to Avila Beach and raced the marine layer to catch some light. Even with the clouds rolling in, Sofia was absolutely glowing. She was laughing, moving, and having fun and it shows in every photo.
Sofia was completely comfortable in front of the camera and fully in her element. The marine layer added a soft, coastal feel to her Avila Beach senior photos, proving that perfect moments don’t require perfect weather.
I’m so thankful that Sofia became part of our lives and that I had the opportunity to capture her senior portraits in San Luis Obispo. Distance doesn’t stop meaningful connections, and I’m grateful we get to stay in touch.
Congratulations, Sofia. I’m honored to have photographed your senior year and can’t wait to see what you do next.
